How It Works

Pulmonary Services Consultants (PSC) brings the pulmonologist toolkit to you, providing high-quality pulmonary diagnostics to your patients in the comfort of their favorite facility, yours. Recent research shows that 70-80% of pulmonary patients are undiagnosed, PSC helps identify and address 100% of your pulmonary patient population, ensuring no patients are overlooked.

Step 1: Patient Identification

  • Chart Review & EMR Analysis: We help you identify patients who may benefit from pulmonary diagnostics:

    • 20% of patients already have a pulmonary diagnosis on file (most without a PFT).

    • 30% of patients are "at-risk" of developing pulmonary disease.

    • 19.5% of current pulmonary patients may be misdiagnosed.

Step 2: Patient Scheduling

  • Flexible Scheduling:

    • Tests are scheduled every 30 minutes, allowing for up to 16 patients daily.

  • Frequency Based on Demand:

    • Testing can occur monthly, weekly or more frequently, depending on patient volume and need.

Step 3: Testing Day

  • Equipment & Staff:

    • PSC provides all necessary pulmonary diagnostic equipment, trained technicians and remote monitoring setup.

    • No upfront investment is required.

  • Patient Interview:

    • Patients complete a comprehensive lung health assessment, including a detailed history, review of recent hospital or urgent care visits, evaluation of current symptoms, and an analysis of their medication regimen, all prior to testing.

  • Testing Process:

    • Patients receive a series of pulmonary diagnostic tests tailored to their needs, including pre/post spirometry, MVV, DLCO and lung volumes. For those who qualify, a 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) is also conducted to assess functional exercise capacity and oxygen desaturation.

Step 4: Immediate Results

  • Same-Day Reports:

    • Results are delivered the same day with clear interpretations.

    • Technicians provide insights and preliminary recommendations for services and therapies.

  • Disease-Specific Plans:

    • For diagnosed patients, we generate a tailored plan of care to support effective management.

Step 5: Patient Education, Management & Monitoring

  • Disease Guidance:

    • Eligible patients are enrolled in one or more of our Education, Management, and Monitoring programs, where they receive tailored education about their specific condition to enhance understanding, promote adherence, and support long-term health outcomes.

  • Medication Guidance:

    • Eligible patients can participate in virtual pharmacotherapy programs led by PharmDs, receiving expert guidance and clear instructions on the proper use of inhalers, nebulizers, and other prescribed respiratory devices to optimize treatment effectiveness.

Step 6: Reimbursement Collection

  • Your Office Bills Insurance:

    • Bill for pulmonary testing using provided CPT codes (Average PFT w/ 6MWT reimbursement: $205)

    • Bill for pulmonary education, management, & monitoring using provided CPT codes (Average reimbursement varies per product)

    • Medicare and most PPO plans typically do not require prior authorization for these services.

  • PSC Invoices You:

    • Service fees include:

      • $150/day rental for equipment and staff.

      • $100 per patient tested.

    • Invoices are issued on net-30-day terms after services are provided.
